How it works

How the agent checks calls for competitor mentions.

The deal or account owner receives a Slack alert with the customer’s quote and the relevant battlecard.

  1. 01

    A customer names a competitor.

Trig checks each transcribed call on an open deal or customer account for the competitors on your list and their other names.

  2. 02

    Agent gathers data & evidence.

The transcript with speakers and timestamps, the deal or renewal in the CRM, your competitor list, battlecards, and attendees’ titles.

  3. 03

    Agent builds the competitor alert.

Keeps each mention by the customer, labels what it shows, links it to the deal or renewal, and adds the battlecard.

  4. 04

    You review and decide.

Decide how to respond, and whether to add the competitor to the deal.

Configuration

How this agent manages competitor mentions.

The data and records the agent needs access to in order to deliver the work, and where you want it delivered.

How this agent manages competitor mentions.

  • What it reads

Call transcripts, the deal or customer account each call belongs to in the CRM, and your list of competitors and their other names. Battlecards and calendar invites add context where available.

  • Where the work lands

Full alert on Trig, with every mention from the last 30 days, delivered as a direct message in your internal chat, such as Slack, to whoever owns the deal or account.

  • Your decisions

Your team decides how to respond and whether to add the competitor. Trig quotes the customer and calls the intent unclear when the words don’t show it. Agents access only records you allow and carry out only actions you approve.

Output

What the agent hands your team.

Every competitor your customers named in the last 30 days, with their words and the deal it touches, ready to read in under a minute.

  1. 1Summary. The most serious mention and the deal it touches.
  2. 2Every mention. Who said it, their words, and the moment in the call.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is a competitor mention agent?

It is a Trig agent set up to flag competitors named on your customer calls. Agents can be fully customized to work based on your own unique deal signals, conditions, and situations. In this configuration, the agent checks each transcribed call on an open deal or customer account for the competitors on your list. The agent keeps what the customer said, labels what each mention shows, links it to the deal or renewal it touches, and adds the battlecard.

How does Trig know a competitor was named?

Agents can be configured to read each call transcript, with who spoke and which side they are on. In this template, a mention counts when someone on the customer’s side says a name on your competitor list, or one of its other names, or when your side names one in answer to a customer’s question. Your own unprompted mentions are left out. If your list is empty, the agent uses the names on your battlecards.

What does the agent prepare for my team?

In this template, the agent is configured to deliver one alert per call for the deals and accounts that meet your targeting conditions. Each mention comes with the speaker, their words, and the moment in the call, labeled as leaving, comparing prices, evaluating, using today, or unclear. The alert shows the deal or renewal it touches, whether the competitor is recorded on the deal, and the battlecard to open. A customer leaving for a competitor on a renewal is marked urgent.

Will the agent contact the customer or change the deal?

No. Trig never contacts customers directly without express approval, which is controlled at the code level. In this template, the agent reads your calls and records, quotes one short line per mention, and leaves the CRM competitor field as it is. It suggests adding a competitor to the deal, and your team decides.

What does the agent need access to?

Call transcripts, the deal or customer account each call belongs to in the CRM, and your list of competitors and their other names. Battlecards and calendar invites add useful additional context where available. In Trig, you choose which connected sources agents can read, and you approve whether each assignment may send messages or update records before it runs.

Can we change how the template works?

Yes. A template sets up the assignment: what to produce, which accounts it covers, when it runs, and which tools it can use. You review the plan before it runs, and you can edit its instructions, accounts, recipients, or timing at any time, or pause it.

How long does it take to set up this template?

A few clicks. Once the tools it reads from are connected to Trig, you can set up this template almost instantly, review its plan, and the agent starts work on your customer calls.
