Frequently asked questions.
What is an overdue invoice agent?
It is a Trig agent set up to tell you when a customer’s invoice has gone unpaid for too long. Agents can be fully customized to work based on your own unique billing signals, conditions, and situations. In this configuration, the agent checks unpaid invoices on the accounts you own every morning at 8:00 AM and alerts you when one reaches 30 days overdue. The agent adds the unpaid amount, the account’s renewal date, value, and health, and whether finance is already chasing it.
How does Trig know an invoice is overdue?
Agents can be configured to read each invoice’s due date, amount, and payments in your billing system. In this template, days overdue are calendar days since the due date, and an invoice is flagged on the morning it reaches 30. A part-paid invoice counts at its unpaid amount. Invoices that are disputed, fully credited, or on an agreed payment plan are left to finance and listed separately. Finance counts as chasing when a reminder or billing note is dated in the last 14 days.
What does the agent prepare for my team?
In this template, the agent is configured to alert you on the morning an invoice reaches 30 days overdue, for the accounts that meet your targeting conditions. On a morning with no new invoice, it sends nothing and records that the check ran. Each alert gives the account, the invoice, the unpaid amount, the due date and days overdue, the renewal date and value, the account’s health, and whether finance is chasing it. Invoices already past 30 days are listed below it.
Will the agent contact the customer or finance?
No. Trig never contacts customers directly without express approval, which is controlled at the code level. In this template, the agent reads billing and CRM records and changes no invoice, reminder, or CRM field. The alert goes only to the account owner, with the renewals manager copied. Trig contacts neither the customer nor finance, and your team decides whether to raise it.
What does the agent need access to?
Invoices from your billing system with their amounts, payments, and due dates, and the CRM account with its owner, renewal date, and value. Credit notes, payment plans, reminders, billing notes, and health scores add useful additional context where available. In Trig, you choose which connected sources agents can read, and you approve whether each assignment may send messages or update records before it runs.
Can we change how the template works?
Yes. A template sets up the assignment: what to produce, which accounts it covers, when it runs, and which tools it can use. You review the plan before it runs, and you can edit its instructions, accounts, recipients, or timing at any time, or pause it.
How long does it take to set up this template?
A few clicks. Once the tools it reads from are connected to Trig, you can set up this template almost instantly, review its plan, and the agent starts work on your customers’ unpaid invoices.
