How it works

What the agent does when an account is ready to grow.

Each Wednesday, the agent finds accounts ready to buy more, backed by the customer’s own words, and drafts a handoff for your account manager.

  1. 01

An account shows a growth signal.

Trig checks the accounts you own every Wednesday morning and picks out those with a growth signal, such as seats past 90%.

  2. 02

    Agent gathers data & evidence.

Seats and modules in use, account health, renewal and notice dates, calls, emails, tickets, and your price list.

  3. 03

    Agent builds the expansion list.

Checks health first, keeps signals backed by a need or a request, and drafts a handoff for your account manager.

  4. 04

    You review, edit, and approve.

Choose which accounts to hand over, then edit and approve each handoff for Trig to send to your account manager.

How this agent manages expansion opportunities.

  • What it reads

Seats and modules in use against what each account bought, and the CRM account with its health, renewal and notice dates, and account manager. Calls, emails, tickets, and your price list add context where available.

  • Where the work lands

Full list on Trig, delivered as a direct message in your internal chat, such as Slack, with each handoff ready to send to your account manager once approved.

  • Your decisions

Your team chooses which accounts to hand over and runs the conversation with your account manager. Trig sizes growth only from your price list. Agents access only records you allow and carry out only actions you approve.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is an expansion opportunity agent?

It is a Trig agent set up to find accounts ready to buy more. In this configuration, the agent checks the accounts you own each Wednesday morning. The agent checks account health first, keeps the signals backed by a need or a request, and drafts a handoff for your account manager.

How does Trig know an account is ready for an upsell conversation?

Agents can be configured to read usage, what each account owns, calls, emails, and tickets. In this template, growth signals include seats above 90% in each of the last two complete weeks, a request for more seats, a team using the product outside what was bought, and a new team getting involved. Accounts above 85% seat use in the last complete week go on the watch list even if they have not reached the two-week 90% threshold. An account is ready when the signal is backed by a need in the customer’s words, a named budget holder, or a direct request. At-risk accounts are listed to fix first, with no handoff.

What does an account expansion handoff include?

In this template, the agent is configured to deliver a growth list for the accounts that meet your targeting conditions. It opens with the accounts ready to hand over, then drafts a handoff for each: the signal and its evidence, the customer’s words, who asked, who holds the budget, and whether to add now or at renewal. Accounts with a signal but no stated need go on a watch list, and at-risk accounts are listed to fix first, with no handoff.

Will the agent contact the customer or raise the opportunity itself?

No. Trig never contacts customers directly without express approval, which is controlled at the code level. In this template, each handoff is a draft for you to edit and approve before Trig sends it to your account manager. The agent changes no CRM field and gives no price that isn’t on your price list.

What does the agent need access to?

Seats and modules in use from your product analytics, and the CRM account with its health, renewal and notice dates, and account manager. Calls, emails, tickets, your price list, and contract terms add useful additional context where available. In Trig, you choose which connected sources agents can read, and you approve whether each assignment may send messages or update records before it runs.

Can we change how the template works?

Yes. A template sets up the assignment: what to produce, which accounts it covers, when it runs, and which tools it can use. You review the plan before it runs, and you can edit its instructions, accounts, recipients, or timing at any time, or pause it.

How long does it take to set up this template?

A few clicks. Once the tools it reads from are connected to Trig, you can set up this template almost instantly, review its plan, and the agent starts work on your expansion opportunities.
