Frequently asked questions.
What is a seat limit agent?
It is a Trig agent set up to tell you when an account is near its seat limit. Agents can be fully customized to work based on your own unique growth signals, conditions, and situations. In this configuration, the agent checks seat use on each account you own once each week is complete, and alerts you the second week in a row an account uses more than 90% of its seats. The agent adds the renewal date, contract value, and any request for more seats.
How does Trig know an account is near its seat limit?
Agents can be configured to compare weekly active users with the seats each account bought. In this template, seat use is weekly active users divided by licensed seats, for each complete week, Monday to Sunday. Trig alerts you in the second consecutive complete week an account uses more than 90% of its seats, following a week below that threshold. An account above 85% in the last complete week, without an alert, goes on the watch list.
What does the agent prepare for my team?
In this template, the agent is configured to alert you in the week an account first passes 90% for two weeks running, for the accounts that meet your targeting conditions. In a week with no new alert, it sends nothing and records that the check ran. Each alert gives seat use for both weeks and the week before, the renewal date, contract value, account manager, and health, any request for more seats in the customer’s words, and the watch list.
Will the agent contact the customer or raise an opportunity?
No. Trig never contacts customers directly without express approval, which is controlled at the code level. In this template, the agent reads your records, raises no opportunity, changes no CRM field, and gives no price that isn’t on your price list. The alert goes only to the customer success manager who owns the account, and your team decides whether to hand the request to your account manager.
What does the agent need access to?
Weekly active users for each account from your product analytics, licensed seats from billing or the contract, and the CRM account with its owner, renewal date, contract value, and health. Requests for more seats in emails, calls, or tickets, and your price list, add useful additional context where available. In Trig, you choose which connected sources agents can read, and you approve whether each assignment may send messages or update records before it runs.
Can we change how the template works?
Yes. A template sets up the assignment: what to produce, which accounts it covers, when it runs, and which tools it can use. You review the plan before it runs, and you can edit its instructions, accounts, recipients, or timing at any time, or pause it.
How long does it take to set up this template?
A few clicks. Once the tools it reads from are connected to Trig, you can set up this template almost instantly, review its plan, and the agent starts work on your accounts’ seat limits.
